The owner of classic car stolen from the rented lock up where he kept it found parts being auctioned off on ebay, a court heard.
Dean Griffiths scoured local garages in search of his prized Mark 1 VW Golf which he eventually found stripped down to its bare shell.
Mr. Griffiths reported the theft, but also carried out his own investigation by checking out the auction site where he saw photographs of parts from his car being offered for sale.
That led to Martin Crouch’s arrest, and at his home, as well as many of the stolen parts, including the leather seats, steering wheel and customized gear knob, officers found 41.3 grams of amphetamine which Crouch said was for his own use.
